School Buses

The G5, T-Series and MB-II Type A school buses have max capacities ranging from 20–36 passengers (or six wheelchairs) and multiple options when it comes to drive type, chassis type, layout and drivetrain.
Multi-Function School Activity Buses
Micro Bird's line of Multi-Function School Activity Buses are built with the highest standards and are ideal for field trips and activities. The G5, T-Series and MB-II Type A MFSABs have max capacities ranging from 14–36 passengers (or six wheelchairs) and multiple options when it comes to lengths and roof height, drive type, chassis type, floor plan and drivetrain.
Multi-Purpose Vehicles
Micro Bird's line of multi-purpose vehicles are built with the same construction and design as their school buses, but are non-CDL and can be operated using only a standard driver's permit. The G5, MB-II and T-Series MPVs have a max capacity of 9 passengers, making them a safer, bigger and more spacious alternative to regular passenger vans for transporting school children.
Alternative Fuel Buses
Micro Bird offers a variety of alternative fuel options, including the G5 Electric and G5 Propane school buses. Micro Bird's alternative fuel buses can carry up to 30 passengers and offer superior durability, safety and quality, while providing the lowest total cost of ownership in the market.

Micro Bird buses are produced by Micro Bird, Inc., a joint venture between Blue Bird Corporation and Girardin Minibus. Micro Bird’s Type A buses are assembled at its 250,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing plant in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada.

Micro Bird manufactures a complete line of Type A school buses, Multi-Function School Activity Buses (MFSAB) and Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPV). Micro Bird currently has three model lines — the G5, T-Series and MB-II — available in a variety of configurations and applications.
- G5: In production since 2005, the Micro Bird G5 can be configured for school bus, MFSAB and MPV applications. The G5 is available with gasoline, propane or electric fuel types and can be built on a Ford or Chevy/GMC chassis.
- T-Series: First launched in 2014, the Micro Bird T-Series can be configured for school bus, MFSAB and MPV applications. The T-Series School Bus and T-Series MFSAB models are built on a Ford chassis, while the T-Series MPV can be built on either a Ford or Chevy/GMC chassis. All modes are available with either a Ford 3.5L gasoline or 3.5L EcoBoost engine.
- MB-II: First produced by Blue Bird in 1992, the Micro Bird MB-II can be configured for school bus, MFSAB and MPV applications. The MB-II is available with gasoline or propane fuel types and can be built on a Ford or Chevy/GMC chassis.

Micro Bird offers one electric school bus model and two low-emission propane models: the G5 Electric, G5 Propane and MB-II Propane. The lithium-ion NMC-powered Micro G5 Electric has a range of more than 100 miles and can hold up to 30 passengers. Both the Micro Bird G5 and Micro Bird MB-II propane models are equipped with a Ford 7.3L V8 engine integrated with ROUSH CleanTech’s Gen5 propane fuel system and can hold up to 30 and 20 passengers, respectively.

Micro Bird buses are available in a wide variety of configurations and seating arrangements, and all models have the option for wheelchair restraint systems and lifts.

Micro Bird buses are built on a Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana, Ford E-350/E-450 or Ford Transit chassis, depending on the model. They are also available in either a single- or dual-wheel format.

To enhance safety in the event of a rollover and side impact, all Micro Bird buses feature a one-piece galvanized steel roof bow and are reinforced with heavy-gauge steel side impact barriers that incorporate the seat rail. Micro Bird’s “More-View” windshield and fully glassed entrance door also provide maximum visibility for the driver.
Micro Bird buses also come with the option of recessed wheelchair tracks and Slide N’Click or floor pocket anchorages to transport special needs passengers safely and securely. Plus, all wheelchair lifts are ADA-compliant.
