Peterbilt Model 579EV
Peterbilt leads the industry in alternative powertrain offerings with the availability of the Model 579EV, an all-electric Class 8 vehicle. The 579EV joins Peterbilt’s Model 220EV and Model 520EV for the most complete lineup of electric vehicles.
The Model 579EV day cab configuration features a battery-electric drive system that uses the energy stored in large packs of lithium iron phosphate batteries to meet the propulsion and other power requirements. The truck is ideal for short-haul and drayage applications in port operations which provide many stops and starts where the use of regenerative braking transfers energy back into the battery packs to extend operating range. The Model 579EV provides environmentally-conscious customers a zero-emissions, high-performance vehicle for clean, efficient operation and lower overall maintenance.
