In case you missed it, Rush Truck Centers is hosting a sweepstakes to give away the last ever produced Peterbilt Model 389 truck to one lucky winner. The sweepstakes officially launched in March 2024 at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, and will run through September 15, 2024. Those eligible can automatically be entered to win the last Model 389 by making a minimum $50 donation to Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP)*.

About the Truck
The last ever Peterbilt Model 389 rolled off the assembly line on December 22, 2023, as the one and only model year 2025 Model 389 to be produced. It features the limited edition 389X package, which includes exclusive chrome finishes and LED accent lights on the exterior, and Black Pearl burl woodgrain dash panels and black finish trim in the cab and sleeper. Special edition 389X logos adorn the exterior and interior, and the chrome dash plate is engraved with “The Last One” to commemorate the end of the Model 389’s production.

Obtaining the Last Peterbilt Model 389
Peterbilt auctioned off the last Model 389 at the 2023 Peterbilt Dealer Meeting with the goal of donating the proceeds to two worthy organizations: Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) and Wreaths Across America (WAA).
“We thoughtfully selected TAT and WAA as the recipients of this donation to help fund their efforts in supporting our trucking community, specifically combatting human trafficking and honoring our fallen soldiers,” said Jason Skoog, Peterbilt general manager and PACCAR vice president.
Rush Truck Centers was able to secure the final Model 389 with a winning bid of $1.5 million. The $1.5 million donation bid was split equally between TAT and WAA, each receiving a total of $750,000.
“It is a privilege to support TAT in its important work combatting human trafficking, and WAA to remember the fallen, honor those who serve and teach the next generation the value of freedom,” said W.M. “Rusty” Rush, chairman, chief executive officer and president of Rush Enterprises, Inc. A Tie to Rush Truck Centers’ History
After Rush Truck Centers acquired the last Model 389, it was taken to Rush Truck Centers – Tulsa, where the white stripes were meticulously painted on the cab before the launch of the sweepstakes. The new paint scheme matches the look of the 1965 Peterbilt Model 351A proudly displayed in front of the Rush Enterprises headquarters in New Braunfels, Texas. A symbol of our company’s rich history and legacy, the 1965 Model 351 was manufactured the same year Rush Enterprises was founded and has been on display since 2003.
Giving Back to America’s Heroes
Proceeds raised through our sweepstakes will be donated to Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve the lives of millions of injured veterans and their families through direct services and advocacy efforts.

The Legacy of the Model 389
Peterbilt built more than 100,000 Model 389 trucks during its production era. When it was originally introduced in 2007, the Model 389 quickly became the ultimate aspirational truck for drivers thanks to its long and tall design that pays tribute to the classic features of its predecessors: the Model 359 and the Model 379. The Model 389 has been a fundamental part of the Peterbilt brand for almost 20 years and remains one of the most recognized and popular big rigs on the road today thanks to its traditional aluminum hood, signature grille, West Coast-style mirrors, classic pod headlamps and external air cleaners.
